Department of Transportation Positions

The White House is looking to fill lower level Department of Transportation positions as soon as possible.  I’m told that given that they’d like to fill these as soon as possible, they’d be willing to have folks take a leave of absence for stay six months to fill the position in the interim.

Look under the column “Type of Appointment.”  Those that are “SC” are Schedule C Excepted Appointments.  Schedule C positions excepted from the competitive service by the President or by the Director of the Office of Personnel Management because of the confidential or policy-determining nature of the position duties.

These could provide interesting opportunities for some of our members, particularly our Legislative Chairmen.

The positions are located in Washington, DC, and the “GS” is General Schedule, and the number following is the government pay grade.  The pay scale for GS 7 is $34K to $43K; the pay scale for GS 9 is $46K to $60K; the pay scale for GS 11 is $56K to $73K; the pay scale for GS 12 is $66K to $88K; the pay scale for GS 13 is $80K to $104K; the pay scale for GS 14 is $95K to $122K; the pay scale for GS 15 is $110K to $145K.
